Boat Trip
A boat trip is the number one activity that is enjoyed by most people that visit Kalkan. Sailing out of the harbour on a sunny day, with the sea glimmering in front of you and the breeze in your hair, what is there not to like.
Whether you want to sit in the sun or shade, the boats cater for everyone, stopping so that you can swim, whether it is to the mud bath beach or just around the boat, it soon builds up your appetite. Included in the price of the trip is a very tasty Turkish lunch, prepared by the crew, which will certainly fill you up ready for your afternoon snooze. During the afternoon most of the boats provide complimentary Turkish tea, cake and seasonal fruit.
There are boats of varying sizes, and most can be chartered for groups, if you wish, (which can work out cheaper per head, although you will always need to book in advance). If there are only two or three of you and you go to the harbour just before 10:00, you will usually manage to find a boat with some spaces, but the trips are very popular, so at the height of the season it is a good idea, to book on a boat of your choice a couple of days in advance (or even earlier). You will need to go to the harbour to book in the evening, once the boats return from their day trip, from about 17.30.
Equally enjoyable are the evening boat trips ”Sunset Cruises”, which some of the boats offer. Although there is no sun, the sea is still warm for a swim and instead you have a glorious sunset, followed by a lovely meal under a canopy of stars, a different experience and something different to do in the evening.
